Clock Removals started the way most useful businesses do by noticing a gap and deciding to close it properly. Over 19 years ago, moving house in London usually meant one of two experiences: an overpriced “man with a van” who disappeared halfway through the job, or a big national firm that treated your three-piece suite like a line item on a spreadsheet. Neither felt right. So we built something in between. A removal company that actually shows up when it says it will, handles your belongings like they’re worth something, and doesn’t disappear the second the van is unloaded.
Nineteen years later, that’s still the whole idea. We’ve grown from a single van doing local house moves into a team covering Central London, North London, East London and the South East Romford, Chelmsford, Basildon, Colchester, Southend-on-Sea, Enfield, Watford, Grays, Tilbury, Dartford, Bromley, Harlow and Kingston offering removals, packing, furniture assembly, painting and decorating, cleaning, landscaping and gardening. What hasn’t grown is our patience for the things that make moving day stressful: vague quotes, no-shows, and being treated like a number.
Clock Removals began with a straightforward observation: people don’t actually dread moving houses because of the boxes. They dread it because of the uncertainty of not knowing if the van will turn up, whether the quote will hold, or whether their belongings will arrive in the same condition they left in. We started as a small, local removals operation built specifically to remove that uncertainty, one job at a time.
Word of mouth did most of the early growth. A flat move in Romford led to a landlord asking if we handled furniture assembly for a new-build development. A house removal in Chelmsford turned into a repeat client who later asked if we did garden clearances. Rather than staying narrowly focused, we grew in the direction our customers actually needed. which is how a removals company ended up also offering painting, cleaning, landscaping and gardening under one roof. It wasn’t a five-year plan. It was just what people kept asking for, and we were in a position to say yes properly rather than subcontracting it out and hoping for the best.
There’s no shortage of removal and home services companies in London. What sets a good one apart usually comes down to a handful of unglamorous things done consistently:
Showing up when we say we will. A quoted time isn’t a rough guideline. It’s a commitment. We build realistic schedules rather than overbooking crews and hoping traffic sorts itself out.
Pricing that doesn’t move once the job starts. We scope jobs properly before quoting, so the number you agree to is the number you pay. No last-minute “access surcharges” invented on the day.
Treating your property like our own. Whether it’s a family home, a rental a tenant has lived in for years, or a commercial unit, we work the way we’d want someone working in our own space, careful, tidy, and communicative if anything unexpected comes up.
Being straightforward when something’s wrong. No job is entirely without hiccups. A parking permit that didn’t come through, a piece of furniture that won’t fit round a stairwell. When it happens, we tell you directly and sort it, rather than letting you find out after the fact.
These aren’t values on a poster in an office somewhere. They’re the reason a plumbing-industry client referred us to a landlord friend, and why that landlord has now used us for four separate properties.
We started as a removals company, and removals is still at the core of what we do but “Clock Removals” now covers a broader set of home and property services, all delivered by our own teams:
Most customers start with one service and come back for another once they’ve seen how we work. A landlord who books us for an end-of-tenancy clean often ends up using us for the next tenant’s move-in furniture assembly too. That overlap is intentional. It means one accountable team, not four different contractors passing the blame around if something falls through the gaps.
We built Clock Removals around four types of customer, and we scope every job with that customer in mind rather than applying one generic approach to everyone:
Homeowners
Who want a job done properly without having to manage three separate tradespeople to get there a move, a repaint, and a garden tidy-up handled by people who talk to each other.
Renters
Who need flexible, fairly priced help whether that’s a term-time student move, a flat-share relocation, or keeping a rented garden tidy without buying equipment they’ll never use again.
Landlords
Managing properties between tenancies, who need reliable, repeatable service across multiple addresses cleaning, painting, furniture assembly and garden upkeep that doesn’t require micromanaging from a distance.
Businesses
Relocating offices, maintaining commercial grounds, or needing scheduled services that keep premises presentable without disrupting the working day.
We’re proud of our 4.9/5 customer rating, but ratings only tell part of the story. The bigger signal is how many of our jobs come from people we’ve already worked with a homeowner who used us for a move and called back eighteen months later for a garden landscaping project, a landlord who’s used us for six different properties, a business that’s had us handle three office relocations in a row. That kind of repeat business only happens when the first job actually went the way it was promised.
If you’re planning a move, a renovation, a garden project, or you just need one reliable team for the jobs that keep piling up around a property, that’s exactly what we’re here for.
